Janti Mela is the local festival highly devotional to celebrate in every six years. With the crowd of hundreds of people gather up in the town Pandukeshwar (Last Village before Badrinath). The local villagers of Vinayak, Joshimath, Badgaon, Tapowan, Urgam and Lambagad are mostly the guest to Pandukeshwar being the festival. Festival is celebrated for the happiness and bless full live of people with the blessing of God. From the very first day of the Janti Mela the Holy sedan(Doli) of Lord Ghantakaran (he was a devout follower of Shiva) to the all nearby village from Bhyundar, Govindghat and Vinayak. The other day is the gathering day of villager and Lords of our Devbhoomi Garhwal take their avtar in the chosen respected people known as Pashwa. The villagers worship them the lords grant their bless to them. There is the feeling of happiness and joy for every localize who all waited for last six years. The Pujari starts the abhishek of Lord Kuber and Ghantakaran. Pandukeshwar is the only place where you can see the temple of Kuber Devta. Villagers decorated the statue both with new yellow colored cloths and hold them on the top of a wooden pole known as laat. With the beats of dhools and vibrationnel sound of long classical trumpet the Kuber and Ghantakaran start dancing at high. And the other pashwa take the bath of Holly ganga water with milk. With the starting of the night the the celebration become very curious to see the temple of Ghantakaran. Eveyone is excited to watch a breath taking event which is an extraordinary for a human body to do. From the very first day a metal frame weighs about 3kg is all set inside the huge log of fire and after extensive heating it to 8-9 hours it become super hot and red in color. The lord then jumps inside the the burning logs and lift up this hot metal burning frame known as “Janti”. They hold this in front of everyone for much time. Now the villagers of Pandukeshar use this Janti to the worship use inside the temple until the next Janti event occurs. Janti Mela was last celebrated in winter of Jan 2016.
